As we headed for one, we passed a sign reading "Tredagar House". Having seen it many times before my curiosity got the better of me so we called in after the canal! What a treat! We will definitely be heading back there for further explorings.
It's a large stately home owned by some Prince Lords of Wales. The gardens were free enter (my favourite price) and they were really lovely, the rest of the grounds were hugely extensive with woodland, a playground, standing stones and lovely walks. Oh for a dog!!
The house itself is only open to the public on a Wednesday through Saturday (highly ironic - we were there on a Tuesday!!)
The other delightful discovery was a material shop so well stocked that it was a regular Aladdin's cave of wonder. Although not the cheapest, there was every conceivable colour and variety of fabric and I admit to spending pennies on some material so hopefully there will be postings in the not too distant future that will show the progress of my quilt! It will be amazingly simple, don't hold your breath for spectacular this time round!!! :)
